Great Idea! Camara Cozy in Laminated Cotton

Check out this super cute camera cozy by Chiristine Koh. See Craft for all the dets then head on over to Oilcloth Addict to get your Laminated Cotton

"Though the DSLR handbags now available for women are truly lovely, they're an investment and a wee bit too permanent feeling for someone who likes to switch bags as frequently as I do. Recently, I invested in my first DSLR and was looking for a way to protect the camera in my handbag du jour. So I decided to craft a DSLR bag - a super camera cozy, if you will."   By Christine Koh

New laminates cottons are coming!

It's been a long time since we have filled up the shop with some fresh fun laminates and I couldn't be happier that 7 new prints are on the way! Here's a run down of what we expect some time next week.
Boys need laminated cotton too, so "Letters" in blue is for all the boy mammas!
I've loved this print for a while now,  it's so playful. I am so glad to be getting more of Anna Maria Horner fabric for the shops.
I love-love-love these Heather Bailey prints.  I've used them for two projects in my upcoming book, Sewing with Oilcloth, I am sure you'll love them too!
Last but not least, we'll have a brand new fabric line from Dena Designs called Tea Garden! I think this will be so lovely for winter projects, the colors are so rich and the prints so pleasing.

We are hoping that these will arrive around the first of the month, please check back soon. Meanwhile, Happy Turkey Day!

It was a happy mistake that lead me to my latest faux bois oilcloth print. We accidentally received a bolt of Rosewood Faux Bois instead of Walnut Faux Bois and I couldn't be happier to add this to our lineup!!
It works so well with the brown gingham oilcloth.

Atlanta here we come!

This week we will be traveling to our second Country Living Fair, in Atlanta, Georgia! Selling pre-cut oilcloth in Ohio was a big success but people wanted more and sometimes less of what we had to offer, so we decided to improve the situation and cut oilcloth orders at the show. We'll still have our pre-cut pieces for quick sell, we will be loading up our oilcloth lined Ya-Ya cart with 1, 2 and 3 yard cuts. (Want to know how to make a rolling shopping cart liner, just hold on, I'll be making a pattern for this bad girl of a project soon!!!)

Not only will we be selling our Modern June wares and our Oilcloth Addict yardage at the show I'll also be a guest speaker at the Atlanta Country Living Fair. On Sunday October 24th. I will be chatting about how to use oilcloth to decorate the home, "Oilcloth for the Modern Home" will start at noon. See ya at the booth and then again on the Main Stage! To see all the other great programs at this great 3 day event click here!

Come back tomorrow to see how I made our super fun cutting table cover!!!

Show and Tell, a sprused up porch

One of my super sweet Junies (what I lovingly call my Modern June workers) spruced up her front porch with a bit of the Green Apple oilcloth and a can of white spray paint! April lives near the best fireworks in Richmond, so she wanted the porch to look great for her annual 4th of July party. With a simple staple gun and a yard or two of oilcloth she covered three of her pretty vintage chairs. This totally amazing woman can do it all... parties, home dec and working part time for me, that's amazing since she has 3 super cute kids under the age of four! Did I mention that on is only 8 months old?

Learn how to cover a simple seat at Prudent Baby!

Happy summer sprucing up to you all!

zoya lime oilcloth

All Photo Credits go to Aesthetic Nest

Check out the inspiration for one of our latest oilcloth, ZOYA in Lime. Anneliese from Aesthetic Nest had a wonderfully Festive Fortieth Birthday Party and decked out her tables with some wonderful Zoya tablecloths.

At Aestetic Nest you can even find out how to make up the fantastic tissue flowers!!!  I don't know about you but I am so seeing these at my next party!

These simple square table topper are easy to whip up, just trim them out in double fold bias found at your local fabric store. A easy fold of the bias makes a nice mitered corner. Well done Anneliese!!

I need a party fix!

Is Oilcloth a good for covering seat cushions? Well if you ask me, the proof is in the ketchup.

Sit down and enjoy!

Here are a few wonderful projects that I have seen floating around the internet and my in box!
One of my lovely customers, also named Kelly, shared her wonderful project with me.  She covered her dining room chairs with the Black and White Damask laminated cotton from Micheal Miller.  How very pretty and practical is this?  Kelly has a few boys that were wreaking havoc on the old fabric covers, now the family can eat spaghetti with out worrying about the stains. Perfect!

I just love this Laminated Cotton covered stool that I found over at Prudent Baby, get the how to here!
The bath room is perfect place for laminated cotton.
Sew can do has a great way to make that treasured high chair safe and comfy! What's not to "LOVE" about this fabric, Trumpet Flowers?  I just love her pinning idea, bobby pins and tissue paper!

Catching up!

Have I been a bad blogger or what?  Things have been busy and exciting around here. Oilcloth Addict is selling up a storm, Modern June is cranking out lots of fun tablecloths and other goodies as usual. We are almost done creating the new MODERNJUNE.COM and I have been having fun shopping for new vendors to add to the "Modern June" of it all!  Most importantly, I have been having a blast writing patterns for the book!  I still can't believe that I am getting the chance to write a book all about sewing oilcloth!!! How cool is that?

Later this week I will have a few customer projects to share with you, but before I get to that, let me share with you all the fun things I found made out of laminated cotton at last months Quilt Market!

When it comes to laminates it's all about the raincoat!
Fabrics from the great Free Sprite and Westminter Fabric...  Amy Butler, Anna Marie Horner,
Heather Bialey Kaffe Fassett Luella Doss

What about totes?  Yah... totes in laminated cottons are perfect for a tote! Think about taking one of these sweeties to the farmers market, nice!

pretty new fabrics from Free Sprite and Echino

Now what about this? What about a really rocking bag? Diaper Bags, make up bags and weekender bags are wonderful in laminated cotton.

We will be filling up the shop with more and more Laminated Cotton this summer!!!
