Great Idea: Beach Comber Bag

Here's another great tutorial that would be great made out of laminated cotton. Christina from Two Little Hooligans, made a fun little beach comber bags that are great for corralling all of your pool and beach bottles. I'll be making a couple of these for our family vacay in September!

Cristina's tutorial uses 2-3 fat quarters, so I thought it was a great time to make a listing for laminated cotton fat quarters, because sometimes you only need a little bit to get the job done!

Great Idea! Oilcloth Pencil Case

I found this nice little tutorial for a zipped up pencil case on the Momtastic blog, what a nice way to use up all those oilcloth scraps. What, you don't have any? Don't fret we sell fat quarters of oilcloth and they are great for learning how to work with oilcloth and small projects! But be careful, you'll get addicted to oilcloth!

Great Idea, Coupon Clutch

Isn't this cool? This coupon clutch from The Object Project, would be fun in oilcloth!

I love making flowers appliques out of oilcloth, I have made flower appliques with dots and gingham, but I also love taking a flower from one of the floral prints. A poppy from the Yellow Poppy oilcloth or the big turquoise blossom from Istanbul oilcloth is also very fun. Just cut out your flower and use on all kinds of projects.

This project would be a perfect use for the Four Fat Lil' Quarters of oilcloth!

OCA Tutorial # 4 Oilcloth Memory Game by April

Oilcloth Memory Game Tutorial

Little ones will love playing this memory game, while their adults will love the durability that oilcloth provides to this classic. This 3 inch set was made for a young toddler. If you are making this game for an older child you may chose to make the pieces smaller.


Materials:
1 Oilcloth Addict Charm Pack
1 Fat Quarter of Oilcloth from Oilcloth Addict
Cutting board
Rotary Cutter
Pinking Shears


Begin by choosing ten different oilcloth charms from the charm pack. Each one of of these will form one pair of memory pieces.

Using your rotary cutter and ruler trim the charm into a 6 by 3 rectangle. Then cut the piece in half, forming two 3 by 3 squares. Repeat these steps with each charm. When you have finished this there will be 20 3 by 3 pieces, (2 from each of your original 10 charms).

Now you will need 20 3 x 3 squares from your fat quarter fabric.
Begin by cutting a 3 inch wide strip the length of your fabric.

Then cut this piece every three inches to form your 3 x 3 squares.

Next, put a black dot with each one of your charm pieces with the
wrong sides of the fabric touching. Pin in place.

Sew 1/4 inch in around your square, backstitching at the beginning and end.

After sewing all of the pieces, use pinking sheers to even out the
edges and give a decorative touch.
